The world of music is changing. Artists are seeking new ways to connect with their fans, control their creations, and open up new revenue streams. It's a platform where your music, merchandise, and fan loyalty become valuable digital assets.
If you're ready to take control of your music and connect directly with your audience, you're in the right place. This guide will walk you through every step of uploading your first track to the BitSong platform.
What You'll Need to Get Started
Before we jump in, make sure you have a couple of things ready:
Your Music: The track you want to upload, preferably in a high-quality format like WAV, FLAC, or MP3.
Your Artwork: A square image for your track's cover art.
A Web3 Wallet: BitSong is built on the Cosmos ecosystem, so you'll need a compatible wallet.[3] The video shows the process with Keplr Wallet, and Leap Wallet is also a great option. You can also log in with just an email or Google account to get started![4]
Your Step-by-Step Guide to Uploading on BitSong
Step 1: Connect to the BitSong App
First, head over to app.bitsong.io. You'll be greeted with a sign-in page.
Click on "Web3 Wallet."
Select your wallet provider from the list (e.g., Keplr Wallet).
A pop-up will appear from your wallet extension asking you to approve a signature request. This is a standard and secure way to log into decentralized applications. Click "Approve."
Step 2: Navigate to Your Profile and Upload
Once you're logged in, you'll see your main wallet dashboard. From here:
Click on "Profile" in the left-hand navigation menu.
On your profile page, you'll see your existing tracks (if you have any). Click the "Upload New Track" button to begin.
Step 3: Upload Your Audio File
You're now on the "Upload your Music" page.
You can either drag and drop your audio file directly onto the page or click "Select File" to open your computer's file browser.
Locate your MP3, WAV, or FLAC file and select it.
The file will begin uploading. You'll see a progress bar tracking its status. Once it reaches 100%, it will automatically process.
Step 4: Complete Your Track's Details
This is where you bring your track to life with artwork and information.
Artwork: Click "Select Image" under the artwork placeholder. Choose your cover art from your files. You'll have a chance to zoom and crop the image to fit perfectly before saving.
Metadata: Fill in the necessary details for your track:
Title: The name of your song.
Artist Name: Your artist name will appear here.
Genre: Select the genre that best fits your music from the dropdown list.
Optional Details: You can also add a description, featured artists, lyrics, and more to give your listeners the full experience.
Once you've entered all the information, click the "Save Track" button at the bottom of the page.
Step 5: You're Live!
Success! A notification will confirm that your track's metadata has been saved. Your newly uploaded song will now appear on your "Uploads" list and, more importantly, on your public artist profile for everyone to see and hear.
From your profile, anyone can click on the track, view the artwork, and press play to start listening immediately.
By following these simple steps, you've taken a massive leap into the future of music. You've published your work on a decentralized platform, giving you more control and a direct connection to the people who matter most—your fans. Welcome to the new music revolution.
