Important Notice: Grammos Mini App Shutdown Due to Telegram's New Blockchain Policies
Background
On January 21, 2025, Telegram announced significant updates to its Terms of Service for Bot Developers and introduced new guidelines for mini apps integrating blockchain technology. These updates include restrictive mandates that force developers to exclusively use the TON blockchain for cryptocurrency-related services. The changes, which we believe are both unfair and discriminatory, severely impact Grammos, our Telegram mini app powered by the BitSong Network.
Grammos, a widely used mini app with over 200,000 active users, is designed to facilitate seamless interaction with the BitSong Network. However, due to Telegram’s updated policies, Grammos must cease operations. We strongly contest this decision, as it disrupts millions of developers, users, and entire blockchain ecosystems while imposing limitations that stifle innovation and freedom of choice.
What This Means for Grammos Users
To comply with Telegram's new rules, Grammos will be shutting down by January 31, 2025. After this date, users will no longer be able to access their Grammos wallets via Telegram.
Actions Required Before January 31, 2025
If you have funds stored in Grammos or wish to continue using the same wallet, you must take action to export your wallet or transfer your funds to another BTSG-compatible wallet service.
How to Export Your Private Keys from Grammos
Open the Grammos mini app in Telegram.
Navigate to the Wallet section.
Click on the Settings button (⚙️) in the upper right corner, next to your wallet name.
Select Wallets.
If you have only one wallet:
Click the Settings button (⚙️) next to your wallet name.
Select Export Mnemonic Phrase and securely save your private key.
If you have multiple wallets:
Repeat the process for each wallet to export their mnemonic phrases individually.
⚠️ Important: Safeguard your mnemonic phrases and ensure you only store them in secure locations. Do not share them with anyone.
Alternative Wallets for BTSG
Once you have exported your private keys, you can import them into other wallets compatible with the BitSong Network, such as:
Alternatively, you can transfer your funds to these wallets directly by sending your BTSG tokens from Grammos to an address you control in one of these wallets.
Our Take on Telegram’s Decision
We find Telegram’s new policies deeply concerning. Requiring developers and users to adopt a single blockchain (TON) undermines the core principles of decentralization, interoperability, and choice that blockchain technology stands for. This decision forces millions of developers and users across countless blockchains to adapt or abandon their projects, causing unnecessary disruption and limiting innovation.
For Grammos and its users, this move imposes significant challenges. Redirecting over 200,000 users to alternative platforms is not only a logistical nightmare but also complicates the user experience, which we’ve worked tirelessly to simplify.
Looking Ahead
We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this will cause our users. Rest assured, we are committed to developing a new solution to ensure continued access to the BitSong Network’s services. However, this will take time and resources.
We encourage users and developers to voice their opinions against this policy change and advocate for a more inclusive and decentralized approach. Together, we can hope for a future where innovation and user choice are prioritized over monopolistic restrictions.
Stay Connected
We will keep you updated on new developments and alternative solutions. Thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging time.
